THE FAIRY QUEEN
OPERA BY HENRY PURCELL
Designed costumes for the opera The Fairy Queen for UC Santa Cruz music department.
The Fairy Queen's main story is adapted from A Midsummer Night's Dream following the nature of the story we divided all the characters into four worlds: the fairy world, the human world, the gods, and the players.
The fairy world is undoubtedly the most fantastic and fun of all characters. Our designs are inspired by the natural world of plants and insects.
or the design of the human world we were inspired by the students at UCSC, there are some structural silhouette details that differentiate each character in order to represent characters’ economic status and psychological portrait.
The world of Gods falls between the world of fairies and the world of humans, so we took some freedom to make it a bit absurd.
We appreciate the Music department at Uc santa Cruz for this amazing opportunity to work with their talented students and director Sheila Willey on such a fun project.

The Phantom of the Opera-film
Phantom of the opera design for film.
My concept revolves around steampunk world.
Steampunk is often described as a fusion of the old and the new: the tradition of the Victorian age mixed with bold, retro technology. The juxtaposition of these elements creates a post-apocalyptic feel and a romantic allusion to drama and revolution.
Steampunk is a retro futuristic subgenre of science fiction that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.
